TUNA (2025)

The Solitude of Animals in a Can is a series painted with acrylic colors, pastels, and chalks on canvas. The pictorial language recalls the surrealist and pop cartoon style.

One day, looking at the drawing of a cow grazing on a can of canned meat, I was surprised by the obvious thought that the can contained the remains of an animal, like a sort of small sarcophagus or a funeral urn.
And I thought that even those small remains, stolen from their world and their life, locked in the darkness of a jar, perhaps on a supermarket shelf, deserved to be celebrated with a bit of consideration and compassion.

These are small-format works, mounted in decorated vintage frames, in the style of certain collections of old family photos.
