El Dia de los Muertos is the Mexican festival of the dead: it celebrates that special and unique day of the year where the world of the living meets, on Earth, with that of the deceased. While Halloween represents a threatening afterlife populated by evil spirits, zombies, vampires, and witches, el Dia de los Muertos celebrates the dead with joy, sympathy, and nostalgia; with the pleasure of being together again, even if only for a day.
The Mortini series is animated by this spirit. The Mortini are not scary, macabre, or gloomy. On the contrary, they are cheerful, curious, mischievous, sometimes melancholic. Now with the serenity of those who are free from the fear of death, the Mortini return with benevolence and a bit of melancholy to observe the rapid flow of life.
